5pm - Midnight

Contigo

2027 Anchor Lane

Austin, Texas 78723

We invite you to arrive for cocktails and appetizers around 5pm at Contigo. Our outdoor ceremony will begin at 5:30pm.

our CEREMONY

We're doing a non-traditional ceremony that will be free-flowing and casual in nature. You and everyone attending is invited to say a few words if they wish. We’d like to emphasize “if you wish”. Please don’t feel obligated. You will not be judged a curmudgeonly word-miser if you forgo your chance to speak. We know public speaking isn’t everyone’s cup of tea and you obviously like us very much or you wouldn’t have flown hundreds of miles to hang out with us. :)

That being said, think of it as a toast. Tell a story about one of us or both of us. Remark on how attractive and intelligent we are and how we remind you of you that way. Read a poem. Almost anything you think is meaningful to us and our guests about us and/or our marriage. We say “almost”, because there is one important rule

Stay positive - We’ve been to too many wedding where the toasts turn into roasts. Please say only nice things. Tell only stories that are happy throughout.

Since we're opening it up for any of the 35ish guests to say something, we're not sure how long the ceremony will last. That's why we're saying it will be casual - comfortable chairs for everyone, shade and fans, food and drinks will be available throughout. Our friend, Nate, will be keeping the ceremony moving. A seated dinner reception will follow the ceremony

our reception

We’ll have some cocktails while we wait for dinner to be ready, then we'll sit down to some of our favorite food and drinks in Austin and have a leisurely dinner. After that, we’ll just hang out for a while. We’ll have music, but not a traditional dinner-to-dancing transition. You can dance if you want to. You can also sit around, drink fine cocktails, or have your fourth serving of dessert.

the venue

Contigo is mostly an outdoor venue, with dining tables under an open air but covered pavilion. The bar area will have A/C and there will be lots of shade and fans to keep everyone cool. However, please keep in mind that most of the evening will be outside. In August. In Texas. Please plan accordingly. See more weather details here.

how to get there

Contigo is a 10 minute drive from downtown Austin and the Westin hotel. We recommend taking a taxi or Lyft/Fasten/Uber/, which is about $12 ride one way. Sharing is encouraged.

children

Due to the nature of our ceremony, our wedding is for adults only. Thursday night's pool party and Saturday's movie event are open to all children. Feel free to let us know when you are looking for a nanny/sitter for the wedding, as I'm sure our event planner or hotel has a service they can recommend.

what to wear

The general attire is "cocktail" level of formality - so think outdoor summer wedding, beach wedding, or summer attire that's dressy (not formal but not too casual). Please dress for potential hot weather with lightweight or flowing fabricswe want you to be as comfortable as possible.

Unless you've been specifically told what to wear already (hint: parents and best men/women), please use the details below as a guide:

Men: Dress pants/slacks/suit pants, button down shirt. Jacket OR tie. Please do not wear both. It’ll be warm, so feel free to lose jackets or loosen ties if/when it’s too hot.

Women: A dress or outfit, that's comfortable for summer weather.  "Cocktail" level of formality - more dressy than a casual summer dress but not super formal. Along with a wood patio area, the venue has a hard-packed red clay dirt area. High heeled shoes with very small heel tips may be unstable in that area. We recommend wider heels, wedges, flats, or dressy sandals for ease and comfort.
